Hiring for Sales
I'm not a salesperson.
But as a solo founder, I knew I'd have to do it for a while at my company. Honestly, I feel like I've done a fairly good job, but we're now at the point where I literally have time for nothing but sales meetings.
So, it's time to hire. I've got my first ever sales role open now, but there's one problem: I have no idea how to hire a salesperson.
I want someone who can start off prospecting, doing pre-meeting research, and managing follow-ups, but pretty soon, I'd like them to take the lead on calls. It's especially tough because our target market is so technical. Do I prioritize a salesperson with a tech background or just find someone who's a quick study?
So, I'd love to hear what you think. My replies are open!
